New Delhi: The movies she chose to star in may have bombed at the box-office but actress Udita Goswami still manages to raise mercury levels every time she makes a rare appearance on celluloid. The actress will be back on the silver screen with the upcoming film `Chase`, but said that she has grown tired of explaining her frequent sabbaticals and defending her choice of movies.
"I work for myself and not to please anyone. If I work to please people then I`ll probably have to work all the time," Udita told reporters. The 26 -year-old model-turned-actress trashes the adage `Out of sight, out of mind` and asserts that she only takes up projects which she believes in. "In modelling I did what I pleased which made me passionate about what I did. The number of films I act in is a matter of personal choice," said the actress. Udita, who made her debut in Pooja Bhatt`s `Paap`, went on to play the femme fatale in `Zeher` opposite Emraan Hashmi and `Aksar` with Dino Morea. But the actress feels that she was unduly typecast and now wants to be part of a romantic comedy. "I am dying to play a happy-go-lucky girl, a romantic comedy, anything that will help me evolve more. I want to play my age for a change and just be me," said the actress adding that she never got the opportunity to play diverse roles. Meanwhile she is eagerly anticipating the release of her upcoming film `Chase,` opposite actor Anuuj Saxena of television soap `Kkusum` fame, who is also the producer. "We had a lot of fun on the sets. I did under water scenes. We had to run for two or three days through the jungle where a pack of hungry dogs chased us. And there is this particular scene where the dog is off the leash and pounces on us. It was scary but fun," said Udita. Udita`s fans will also get to see her as Lady Gaga, the popular American pop star in a song. "It was crazy! I had to try on ten wigs before we finally zeroed in on one that suited me most. My own father didn`t recognize me," said the starlet. The actress will be making a special appearance in Sunny Deol`s `The Man` where she plays a spy and will also be seen in the Akshay Kumar starrer `Helloo India`. PTI
