New Delhi: He has been off the big screen for a while but actor Zayed Khan, who is returning with `Love BreakUps Zindagi`, says he took the break deliberately to rethink his choices.
The 31-year-old, who was last seen doing a cameo in `Anjanna Anjaani`, says he doesn`t need movies to earn a living so took time off to introspect.
"I took the time off deliberately, wanted to spend some time thinking about my choices. I don`t have to do movies to earn a living so I had the option of taking a break. I didn`t want to do any movie which came my way," Zayed said.
The actor, who started his movie career with `Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne`, has appeared in multistarrers like `Main Hoon Naa`, `Dus`, `Shabd`, `Mission Istaanbul`, `Yuvvraaj` and `Blue`.
Zayed recently became a father for the second time after wife Mallaika Parekh Khan gave birth last month and he has been enjoying the perks of being a father.
"This year has been very fruitful. My hands are full and I am busy being a domestic engineer."
The actor, who also turns producer with `Love BreakUps Zindagi`, says that his decision of producing a film was not something pre-decided but just happened.
"I had never thought that I will produce a movie one day. It just happened and I am really excited about the film. There is a lot of hardwork and love that has gone into making the film and I hope it is recognised," he added.
Zayed will be seen opposite Dia Mirza in the film who is also her business partner in the production house.
"Dia and I have always been great friends and shared a fabulous relationship so when we decided to partner a company I was happy to do it. She is a very compulsive and obsessive person. We did have a lot of fights during the shoot but later made up," Zayed said.
Asked whether he will work with her in his next, Zayed said, "Are you mad? We need a break from each other or else we will end up fighting."
The film is directed by newcomer Sahil Sangha and will hit the theatres on October 7.
Son of actor Sanjay Khan, Zayed, also says that although his father is very happy about his production debut `Love BreakUps Zindagi`, he doesn`t find producing a film to be a big deal.
"When I first told my father about the idea of turning into a producer and starting my own company he said so what`s the big deal in it? In his generation producing a film wasn`t such a big deal and he wouldn`t understand how hard it is now," he said.
The actor, however, says his father is his best critic and always points out his shortcomings.
"Dad always tells me were I am going wrong and I am sure once he watches the film he will sit and talk to me about it," Zayed said.
The actor will be next seen in Priyadarshan`s `Tezz` and `Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene`.
