New Delhi: Actors Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol shot scenes for their upcoming film `Raanjhnaa` at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication campus here with a 100 strong crew.Abhay, clad in a red kurta with blue denim and canvas shoes, was seen driving down the hilly slopes of the college yesterday with Sonam and a gang of bikers.
He seemed excited to be at the campus. "Yeah, it was nice to be here. It`s a pretty nice campus I`d say here..Felt good," The `Dev D` star said after the shoot. The actor has a cameo in the film, which marks the debut of `Kolaveri Di` sensation Dhanush opposite Sonam. The actress plays the role of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student in the film. Sonam could not get much time from her busy schedule at the shoot to interact with the students but she did oblige a few fans by clicking pictures with them before slipping back into her vanity car. Film`s director Anand Rai wanted to capture the authentic ambience but said he was denied permission to shoot in JNU. "We could not manage permission from the JNU authorities but since my film is more about the characters than the place, it was not difficult to recreate the university ambience here. The IIMC campus offered me more shooting- friendly atmosphere," Rai told PTI. The campus was decorated with cut-outs of hostel names like Yamuna Hostel, Aravali Guest House, Open Air Theatre, among others and giant JNU-style hand-made posters of Marx, Lenin and Bhagat Singh. The crew will shoot in Haryana. They will move to Varanasi again before coming back to IIMC to shoot some more scenes in December-January. `Raanjhnaa` has been written by Himanshu Sharma of `Tanu Weds Manu` fame. The film features music from Oscar-winner AR Rahman. The Delhi shoots started early November and the production is expected to be over by mid-February with a target for June release, Rai said. PTI
