Tamil movie `Ko` to be remade

The hugely successful K V Anand-directed Tamil movie `Ko` is set for a remake in Bollywood and one among the heartthrobs Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor is tipped to play the role enacted by Jeeva in the original.

Chennai: The hugely successful K V Anand-directed Tamil movie `Ko` is set for a remake in Bollywood and one among the heartthrobs Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor is tipped to play the role enacted by Jeeva in the original.
`Ko` was a blockbuster and the director is presently in discussions about the Bollywood project, says actor Ajmal who played a scheming Vasanthan Perumal, Jeeva`s friend in the movie.
It was rumoured that Akshay Kumar was to play Jeeva`s role. "But it is Ranbir or Shahid who are likely to enact that role," he told PTI. Ajmal, who shot to fame playing the role of an anti-hero in the Tamil movie `Anjathey`, says his role in `Ko` is what actors "dream to do" and if everything goes well, he might get a chance to do the Bollywood version also. "As I said, everything is in discussion stage." Anand had seen Ajmal`s shots in `Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru` and `Anjathey` and impressed, signed him on for the movie. "He wanted me to play the role of Jeeva`s friend. I was totally focused on my character," says Ajmal, who as a student leader gets elected and becomes Chief Minister in the movie, a seemingly goody-goody character whose real intentions are revealed only in the latter half and catches viewers unawares. `Ko` has stunning music numbers composed by Harris Jayaraj and the songs are still topping charts even two months after the film`s release, especially the foot-tapping `Ennamo Aedho..`. Ajmal himself is featured only in two songs, including the fast number `Aga Naga`. It does not bother him that there are only two out of six songs picturised on him. "My role is different," he says. Right now Ajmal is busy with 'Karuppanpatti' by director Prabhu, an associate of ace filmmaker Shankar and a Telugu project 'Racha' with Ram Charan Teja (Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi's son) and Tamannah. 'Karuppanpatti''s shoot is going on at Palani in Tamil Nadu's Madurai district and he, as hero, is playing a double role. Ajmal is also looking forward to the release of Venkat-directed 'Kathirvel'. The film also stars actress Sunaina. Asked if he had any projects in Malayalam as he debuted in the industry with super hit 'Pranayakalam', he said he had received a lot of offers. "I rejected a lot as I did not like them. A lot of newcomers have done those (kind of) movies and they bombed. I am very selective about my roles. It should be a decent movie and people should enjoy it. Most of my movies are super duper hits." Ajmal, who received the Filmfare award for the best actor in a supporting role (Tamil) for his performance in Anjathey, was working in a hospital in Mumbai when he got the chance to act as hero in director Uday Anandan's 'Pranayakalam', a 'romantic film', in 2007. The dashing actor, who had studied medicine in Russia, has dreams of setting up a hospital. PTI
