Celebs raise millions for AIDS, Haiti at Cannes

Stars and celebs from Russell Crowe to Ornella Mutti raised 5.36 million euros (6.7 million dollars) for the battle against HIV-AIDS, then dug into their pockets to help Haiti at Cannes.

Millions were raised at a gala held at the film festival each year hosted by amfAR, the American Foundation for AIDS Research.
After the dinner, one of the world`s top AIDS fundraising events of the year, Crowe, Lionel Ritchie and Mutti collected 80,000 euros (100,000 dollars) for Haiti at a party also attended by Benicio Del Toro and Elisabeth Banks. Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem meanwhile ran an auction of red carpet dresses worn at the Oscars and Cannes by Scarlett Johannson, Namomi Watts, Diane Kruger, Charlize Theron, Marion Cotillard, Demi Moore, Salma Hayek and Gwyneth Paltrow. They collected 270,000 euros at the sale to help fight AIDS. Bureau Report
