Olsen twins’ $39k alligator skin backpack flying off shelves

Mary-Kate and Olsen’s controversial 39k dollar alligator skin backpack was the first item to sell from their new 9-piece handbag range.

New York: Former child actors turned high-end fashion designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s controversial 39,000-dollar alligator skin backpack was the first item to sell from their new nine-piece handbag range.
Ashley told Women’s Wear Daily that their fashion label The Row is scrambling to keep up with demand for the accessory. “It was the first thing that sold off the shelf,” the New York Daily News quoted her as telling the magazine. She even noted that luxury items perform well during uncertain economic times. “During our last economic crisis in the U.S., the only thing that went up was Hermes,” she added. Barneys New York began carrying the crocodile-skin bags in July, in an effort to compete with other ludicrously-priced handbags. ANI
