Box Office means a lot to me: Irrfan Khan

Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire’s character actor Irrfan Khan, famous for his unconventional pick of roles is not an easy catch. Spicezee.Com’s Smita Mishra took two months to make him speak about himself and his movies which are keeping him awfully busy these days. Read the interview to find out what the quiet and suave actor plans to do on his birthday this year.From the letter writer of Salaam Bombay to the FBI official in New York, how do you think has been the journey? The journey has been extremely good. It has been very enriching and enlightening. It has been a learning process for me. Are you satisfied with the kind of roles that you have done? I don’t think in terms of satisfaction. For me what matters more is enjoyment. I have thoroughly enjoyed the roles that I have done and when I look back at them I feel nothing but joy from within. Tell us something about your Oscar moment. How exactly did you feel? Honestly I have almost forgotten about it now. But of course when the news came it was like something never before. The award is a great achievement and has done great things for Indian talent. What matters to you more, script or Box Office? Both are equally important for me. The script should be interesting but Box Office is extremely significant. But your choice of roles speaks otherwise? Oh no, I am equally concerned with the performance of my films on Box Office. In fact almost all my recent movies have performed tremendously. In fact good performance of a film is very important as what would you do of a good script which the audience would refuse to see? Are the reports that you injured yourself at the sets of Paan Singh Tomar true? How did it happen? The reports of my injury are true, but unfortunately I won’t be able to give the details as the producer of the film has asked me to keep silent on it as of now. Tell us something about your upcoming ventures? Hiss, Paan Singh Tomar and Acid Factory are the films that are in the pipeline. Tell us something about Acid Factory. Acid Factory is a thriller. It is an action movie with a lot of adventure and suspense that you will love to watch. What are your plans for your birthday? I actually don’t celebrate my birthday and hence have no plans for it so far. I don’t like throwing parties or celebrating birthdays with pomp and show. This year too I will be busy with the shoots most probably, as with a lot of work in hand I hardly have time for any vacation. August 29 is Irrfan`s birthday
