New York:`Top Gun 2` was put on hold last year following the tragic death of director Tony Scott, but producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirms the film is on with Tom Cruise reprising his role.
Scott, 68, the younger brother of film director Ridley Scott, committed suicide by jumping off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in the San Pedro port district of Los Angeles, California, reported the New York Post. "For 30 years we have been trying to make a sequel and we`re not going to stop. We still want to do it with Tom (Cruise) and Paramount are still interested in making it. It`s something he is excited about so as long as he keeps his enthusiasm hopefully we`ll get it made," he said. Scott had reportedly been spitballing ideas and locations with Cruise, who played Lieutenant Pete `Maverick` Mitchell. However, Cruise has not publicly commented since on whether or not he would still be onboard `Top Gun 2` without his close filmmaker friend. PTI
