New York: American singer Christina Aguilera has received accolades for her sexy acting debut in ‘Burlesque’.
In the big-screen musical, Aguilera stars opposite Cher as Ali Rose, a country girl from Iowa who lands a job at a struggling nightclub in Los Angeles.
“It’s sexy, it’s sensual,” 29-year-old Aguilera told USA Today about her role in the big-screen musical.
“The whole idea of burlesque has always intrigued me. The art of the tease, the dance, beautiful women - need I say more,” she added.
Aguilera said that the character’s struggle for fame attracted her towards the role.
“It was a girl who had suffered and felt pain, been in seven foster homes,” she said.
“She doesn’t let her past make her a victim. And that to me was so appealing,” she added.
In the first photos released from the film, Aguilera is seen wearing a satin bustier while reclining on an ottoman and performs in a skimpy gold number against a massive backdrop of acrobatic dancers and the word ‘burlesque’ in lights, reports The New York Daily News.
The movie’s director, Steven Antin, called her a ‘freak of nature’ because she learned the acting part so fast.
