Gwyneth Paltrow plays alcoholic in new movie
London: Gwyneth Paltrow is all set to play an alcoholic musician in her new movie `Country Strong`.
The 37-year-old actress who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, will play Kelly Canter in the new film about a faded country singer, reported Daily Mail.
It`s not the first time the `Shakespeare In Love` star has tried her hand at a music role - in 2000 she showed off her singing talents in `Duets`.
However, `Country Strong` is Paltrow`s first leading role since playing the daughter of a mathematician in the 2005 film `Proof`.
In her new film, which is set for release on January 7, Kelly Canter befriends up-and-coming singer songwriter Beau Williams, played by Garrett Hedlund, and the pair embark on a tour together, accompanied by `Gossip Girl` star Leighton Meester, whose character is also looking to break into the music industry.
