Heath Ledger awarded for his role in the `Dark Knight`
Heath Ledger, known for his role as `Joker` in the last Batman movie was awarded Best Supporting Actor posthumously by Los Angeles Film Critics Association here.

Los Angeles, Dec 10: Heath Ledger, known for his role as `Joker` in the last Batman movie was awarded Best Supporting Actor posthumously by Los Angeles Film Critics Association here.The actor received the award for his portrayal as the ruthless villain, `The Joker` in the blockbuster`Batman sequel film `The Knight` last night,`E Online!` reported.
Ledger, who died from an overdose of prescription drugs in January, was nominated for his character as a gay cowboy in the 2005 film "Brokeback Mountain`.
The actor is a strong contender for Oscars in the Best Supporting Actor category for his character of `The Joker`.
He has already won this year`s Australian Film Institute`s international best actor award.
`Wall-E`, the animated film from Disney-Pixer received the Best Picture award while British director Danny Boyle was named Best Director for his film `Slumdog Millionaire`.
Actor Sean Penn was named Best Actor for his role in the film `Milk` and Penelope Cruz was honoured for her supporting role in `Elegy`.
