Orlando Bloom not to play Batman

London: A spokesperson for `Pirates of the Caribbean` star Orlando Bloom has played down rumours that the actor is set to star as Batman in the upcoming `Man Of Steel` sequel.

Reports suggested that the 36-year-old actor was due to take on the role of the comic book character in "Superman Vs Batman" after an announcement at the Comic-Con event in San Diego, California last month. However, a representative for Bloom has dismissed the reports and said, "(The rumour) appears to be Internet gossip." PTI
