After the success of ‘Cars’, Pixar is back with a sequel of the film. Lead characters Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and best friend Mater take on a new adventure this time when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world`s fastest car.
A new challenger, Franscesco Bernoulli (John Turturro) threatens to defeat McQueen at the race and McQueen has no option but to accept the challenge and once again prove he is the best car on the race track.
But the road to victory is not an easy one as there are plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an adventure of his own.
While the movie scores on brilliant animation, the story lets down a bit. The highpoint of the film remains the beautiful locales of London, Paris, Tokyo and the exotic countryside of Italy which form an integral part of the story line.
The friendship between Mater and McQueen is endearing and strikes the right chord. The duo goes through a rough patch in between but gets back together later in the film. There is also a romantic angle in the form of British intelligence agent, Holley Shiftwell (Emily Mortimer) who adds more chaos in Mater’s life.
‘Cars 2’ manages to be a fun filled movie for the entire family but its no match to the first part. Weak story line and confusing plot does make the viewer a bit impatient.
Watch it for fun and some awesome cars!
Ratings: Two cheers for this one!
