London: Richard Gere has blasted the movie, ‘Pretty Woman’, which is arguably the most successful of his career, branding it a “silly romcom”.
The 62-year-old actor had won millions of fans due to his role as Edward Lewis in the blockbuster flick. But he now claims that his character in the film helped trigger the worldwide economic meltdown. “People ask me about that movie but I’ve forgotten it,” the Daily Mail quoted him as telling Australian magazine Woman’s Day. “That was a silly romantic comedy,” he said. The veteran actor also said that the character he played in the film glorified brash Wall St financiers. “It made those guys seem dashing, which was wrong. Thankfully, today, we are all more sceptical of those guys,” he added. ANI
