Kolkata: Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor today said the political-drama series `24` was a risky project for Indian television as the audience is hooked to soap operas.
"It was very risky to bring `24` to India as generally people watch soap operas on TV. But I knew that the script is good and so was confident that people would like it," Kapoor told reporters here.
Basking in the success of the TV series, he said his home production has received very good feedback from people.
The 56-year-old actor who became a global name with the Oscar winning film `Slumdog Millionaire` said people from all age groups like the series where he plays the chief of an anti-terrorist unit.
On his Hollywood experience, Kapoor said, "Tom Cruise and other actors there are such an inspiration to me. They have been very welcoming, supportive and appreciative of my work."
He said it was the first time a film actor like him was doing a role in a TV series in India.
"After this, I start shooting for a sequel of `24`," said the actor.
He also wished ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar the best after his retirement.
"I wish him all the best. I wish he could go on and on for life. He never ends. But Test cricket is a physical sport and gradually youngsters take over. The demands are tough on the body," Kapoor said.
