Ashish Chowdhry returns to TV with `Ek Mutthi Aasman`

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ashish Chowdhry, who started his career with TV, is all set to return to the small screen with ‘Ek Mutthi Aasman’ and hopes the show revives his career.
Best known for his comic timings in hits like ‘Dhamaal’ and ‘Double Dhamaal’, Ashish did TV shows like ‘Hum Pardesi Ho Gaye’.
"TV has become much more popular. The whole scene has changed. I feel, if this show (`Ek Mutthi Aasman`) works, my roles in films will also change and audience will also change (increase)," Ashish told reporters here Wednesday at the launch of the show. He added: "I am happy being back (on TV) and I have no complaints with films." What prompted him to do TV? "The problem with the films (that I was getting) was that they were multi-starrer comedies, so I was like a slot. "Of course, I should be happy and never complain because what`s important is that you should get acceptance, wherever you get it and I got it in multi-starrer comedies, but I wanted to do something different," he said. ‘Ek Mutthi Aasman’ is about the dreams and aspirations of parents working as domestic helps and the theme of the show also appealed to Ashish. Ashish said that after reading the script, he thought he should grab the opportunity to give the society something a la Aamir Khan. ‘Taare Zameen Par’, directed by Aamir Khan, explored the life of a dyslexic child, who excelled in art, but failed in academics. "He opened the eyes of the parents towards their children who don`t study," Ashish said. "Same is with `Ek Mutthi Aasman` - there are our domestic workers, who serve us and helping them in fulfilling their desires or not ill-treating them... I think these problems are still unsolved in our country. Dignity of labour is still not there," he added. ‘Ek Mutthi Aasman’ also marks the comeback of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shirodkar. It will go on air Aug 26 on Zee TV. IANS Pic courtesy: @AshishChowdhry
