I said no to Ekta Kapoor initially, says Sakshi Tanwar

Agra: TV`s favourite `bahu` Sakshi Tanwar, who is all set to return to the small screen with Ekta Kapoor`s new show `Bade Acche Lagte Hain`, says that she turned down the offer initially.

The actress became a household name and one of the most well-known faces following her role in Ekta`s `Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki`.

"I was offered this role within four months after `Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki` ended in 2008. But I refused, because I was not ready for a daily. And then six months back, when Ekta asked me again, I finally said yes," Sakshi told PTI.

The 38-year-old actress, popularly known as `Parvati` from the hit show `Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki`, took a break from daily soaps, making small appearances in `Balika Vadhu` and `Crime Patrol`.

In this latest offering from Balaji telefilms, Sakshi plays Priya, an unmarried woman in her early thirties who believes that marriage has passed her by. Yet, she continues to be a romantic soul.

"Priya believes in love and she knows that she will fall in love one day. She is a happy-go-lucky woman who takes joy in everything around her. She has already given up on marriage but is a firm believer in love and all the rosy
things attached to it," said Sakshi.

The actress was also all praise for her co-actor Ram Kapoor who plays her husband in the show.

"I have known Ram for a long time now and I really enjoyed working with him. He is so talented. We are also very comfortable with each other and that brings out the best in us," she said.

Like her onscreen character, Sakshi too has left marriage to destiny.

"Its not like I don`t want to get married but it`s not in my hands. It`s destiny`s call now and we will just have to wait and watch," she said.

The seasoned actress will also be seen on the big screen this year in Chandra Prakash Dwivedi`s `Mohalla Assi` co-starring Sunny Deol.

"I play a sanskrit teacher, Savitri who is married to Sunny Deol`s character. The film is set in the post-independence period and has been shot extensively in Varanasi," she added.
