Rejection from 'Gossip Girl' proved good for me: Lily Collins

Los Angeles: Actress Lily Collins initially thought it was the end of the world when she didn't get to star in 'Gossip Girl'.

The 25-year-old beauty said she was up for a role on 'Gossip Girl', but she did not get the part, suggest reports.

"I tested for 'Gossip Girl'. I wanted to be in it so badly, I thought at the time it was the end of the world," she said.

The daughter of singer Phil Collins, however, now sees it as a blessing in disguise.

"Now I think, 'Well I would have got pigeon-holed, have had to move to New York, leave high school and be signed away for six years.' I wouldn't have done the films I've done, and everything would have been so different," she said.

Collins, who has starred in such films as 'The Blind Side', 'Mirror Mirror' and 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones', said having a famous father did not help her in the show business.

"When I first met with agents I was asked, 'Well, what makes you so special? Everybody in LA is a cousin or a daughter of someone,'" she added.
