"True Detective" is job of lifetime: Rachel McAdams

Los Angeles: "Notebook" star Rachel McAdams counts her TV comeback vehicle "True Detective" the job of a lifetime and she is enjoying shooting for her character, which she describes as unlikely female lead.

McAdams, 36, is filming the upcoming season two of HBO's hit gothic crime drama with Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn.

She plays Detective Ani Bezzerides a hard drinkin', hard gamblin', cigarette smokin' Ventura county cop trying to solve a grisly murder, reported Marie Claire magazine.

"I love that she's not the girlfriend or the wife. She doesn't really care what everyone thinks, she feels no responsibility for other people's feelings. She's not trying to be charming, which isn't always the case with a leading lady.

There's (usually) sort of a responsibility to be a little bit likeable. Not that you want to be a horrendous character, just a little more human," the actress said. When asked what kind of character she likes to play, McAdams said, "I prefer to be a villainess. The re's something a bit more delicious about their wickedness."
