Los Angeles: Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson will star in a 'Baywatch' movie for Paramount Pictures. The 42-year-old actor took to Instagram to confirm reports that he will appear in the big screen adaptation of the '90s television series, reportedly.

"This is my beach...!," Johnson wrote. "Rumours are true... We're making 'Baywatch' the movie. Edgy, raunchy and hopefully, funny as all hell. Running on the beach...," he posted.

Sean Anders and John Morris are attached to direct the project, while Justin Malen has been hired to write the script. Paramount has been trying to get a 'Baywatch' movie on the scene for some time, although previous attempts have failed to materialise.

The original series ran from 1989 to 2001, with David Hasselhoff, Jeremy Jackson, Richard Jaeckel, Michael Newman and Pamela Anderson among the cast.
