Mumbai: Method actor Randeep Hooda who has wowed audiences and critics time and again with his performances in films, will soon be back on the silverscreen as Sarabjit Singh in ‘Sarbjit’.

The ‘Highway’ actor is apparently affected after essaying the role of the late Indian prisoner Sarabjit, who was convicted on charges of spying and terrorism in Pakistan. He breathed his last after succumbing to injuries he had suffered after being brutally assaulted by a fellow jail inmate. He had spent over 23 years in captivity across the border.

Talking about the impact the role of Sarabjit had on him at a personal level, Hooda said, "Everybody thought I was an ass... everybody around me just had enough of me... it somewhere has affected me. There is a certain sense of gloom that has come about since this movie."

"I have to keep telling myself, that 'look, you did not go through 23 years of your life in prison, you did not go through all that hardship, you did not go through solitary confinement', that is something that I have to keep reminding myself," he added.

The trailer of the film which is slated to release on May 20 was unveiled on Thursday. Randeep will be sharing screen space with former Miss World Aishwarya Rai for the first time. The film also stars Darshan Kumar and Richa Chada.
