Mumbai: ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’, directed by Dibakar Banerjee, will see Sushant Singh Rajput play a never-seen-before character on the silverscreen!

Produced by Yash Raj Films, DBB is slated to release this Friday. The trailer of the film impressed one and all and is certainly one of the most anticipated films of the year.

The first quarter of the year 2015 hasn’t impressed the Box Office much, and hence it would be interesting to see if Sushant manages to pull off a surprise with ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’.

However, we list out five reasons why you must watch DBB, for you may never know when you might end up regretting missing the film.

A charmer that Sushant is, his portrayal of Byomkesh Bakshy will definitely leave you surprised. Till date, he has essayed characters that have had a contemporary look and appeal. As BB, Sushant has already left many in awe!

The film is directed by National Award winning director Dibakar Banerjee, who has delivered films like ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’, ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’,’ Love Sex aur Dhokha’, ‘Bombay Talkies’ and ‘Shanghai’.

The filmmaker is certainly one of the most gifted directors, Hindi Cinema has seen in the recent times.

The villain of DBB story is yet to be revealed. Talking about the villain in the film, Banerjee said, “The villain in this film is such a character, who is on the same level as Byomkesh. Byomkesh respects the villain because he knows that he is very dangerous... The audience will see a new legendary villain in this film. I am satisfied looking at the actor's performance in this film."

DBB is a thriller set in the backdrop of Calcutta in 1943. The film is based on the writer Saradindu Bandyopadhyay’s fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshy. It would be interesting to see how Banerjee treats the story.

The film’s cast is interesting. Besides Sushant Singh Rajput, the film also features Swastika Mukherjee, Anand Tiwari and Meiyang Chang apart from other supporting artists.
