'Force of Destiny' to open Melbourne International Film Fest

"Force of Destiny", an Australian film starring Indian actors Shahana Goswami, Seema Biswas and Moham Agashe will be the opening film of Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) 2015 kicking off next Thursday.

Melbourne: "Force of Destiny", an Australian film starring Indian actors Shahana Goswami, Seema Biswas and Moham Agashe will be the opening film of Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) 2015 kicking off next Thursday.

The opening film has been directed by the eminent Australian director Paul Cox and is based on the filmmaker's personal experiences after he was diagnosed of liver cancer in 2009.

The film starring the Australian actor David Wenham, is a moving love story of a renowned sculptor Robert who has been diagnosed with liver cancer. Robert then meets an Indian marine biologist Maya played by Goswami.

The personal film has been shot in Kerala and Melbourne. The other three Indian films that have been selected for the screening this year will be Chaitanya Tamhane's "Court", the winner of best film at India's National Film Awards, Shonali Bose's "Margarita, with a Straw",winner of Best Asian Film award at Toronto Film Festival and "Sunrise", the first feature from director Partho Sen-Gupta.

The MIFF which starts from July 30th will run for 17 days, screening 372 films.
