Just by looking at the 4 geeky looking men in retro-styled suits singing ‘Papa Toh Band Bajaye’, one could easily guess what the story has in store for all. And ‘Housefull 2’ is finally here to tickle your funny bone.
Known for his exceptional command over comedy, witty filmmaker Sajid Khan has succeeded in pulling of a hilarious multi-starrer flick ‘Housefull 2’. With an ensemble star cast- Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Shreyas Talpade, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Boman Irani, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandes, Zarine Khan and Shahnaz Padamsee, Chunky Pandey and Johnny Lever, ‘Housefull 2’ takes you on a rollercoaster ride that will leave you laughing your heart out. Though the film has certain glitches, one can easily overlook them, for the film certainly promises a great deal of laughter that will leave you pleading for a break. Your jaws will be tired laughing and so will your tummy that might suffer cramps! The first half keeps you busy as you will stop munching your bucket of pop-corn. However, the second half is a bit of a drag that has some clichéd dialogue and contriving situations that might leave you wondering about their inclusion in the film. Akshay Kumar is fabulous in the film and so is Shreyas. John has bettered his comic performance and Riteish seems to have mastered the art of making people cackle. The veterans- Randhir, Rishi and Mithun will surprise you, for you will get to see them in their funniest-ever avatars. And trust…it must have been quite a task for themselves to “not” behave their age and turn those naughty little boys! Boman Irani as always is mind-blowing. It also feels great to see Jonny Lever after a long time and this man’s performance needs no reviewer. He is outstanding. Asin is the only one from the hotties in the film to have some substantial role to play; while the others are just for adding that bit of glam quotient. Sajid-Wajid have done a great job by giving some feet-tapping music. ‘Anarkali’ too has grabbed many ears since the music was released. The screenplay writer could have done little more hard work in the second half of the film, but we can excuse him, for the film provides wholesome entertainment. Cinematography is pretty good and so is Sajid’s treatment. This Sajid Khan film is certainly not for people who feel cinema needs to be driven by quality content and logic. Then, we are sorry, please keep away from this film. But if you are someone who likes to chortle even for no reason or someone who believes in keeping the brains off while entering a cinema hall, then ‘Housefull 2’ is the right thing for you. So please don’t wait even a minute and grab tickets before the multiplexes show you the “Housefull” placard! Ratings:: Three cheers to this one!
