New Delhi: The nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar, remembered music director Salil Chowdhury on his 19th death anniversary.

She said that not only was the Chowdhury a music composer, he was also a poet and a writer. The story for 'Parakh' (1960) was his. She also remembered her first song with the composer – 'Aa Jari Aa Nindiya Tu Aa' from ' Do Beegha Zameen'.

Salil Chowdhury won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for 'Madhumati' and has been one of the most respected music directors of the bengali and Hindi film industry. He passed away on September 5 1995.
