Mike Myers` ‘The Love Guru’ faces heat in India

Mike Myers`flop comedy The Love Guru may not release in India after Hindu leaders objected to the film’s storyline.

Washington, Feb 03: Mike Myers` flop comedy The Love Guru may not release in India after Hindu leaders objected to the film’s storyline. The film, which talks about a comedic spiritual leader played by Myers, was boycotted by religious leaders because they found the movie and the actor``s portrayal offensive.
Eight months after its release in America, the film has been submitted for certification in India and a decision on the movie`s release is pending, according to officials at the country`s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Also, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed is leading a campaign to ban the film in the country, insisting that it violates various CBFC guidelines. He claims India`s cinema laws stipulate a film has to be certified keeping "morality" in mind, besides other things. "The act states the medium of film must remain responsible and sensitive to the values and standards of society - and provide clean and healthy entertainment. This film represents the blatant ridiculing of Hinduism,” Contactmusic quoted him, as saying. The Love Guru has been nominated for a slew of Golden Raspberry Awards - including Worst Film. ANI
