And now, an untold story of his life will be presented on celluloid by Neeraj Pandey with a film titled ‘M.S. Dhoni : The Untold Story’ featuring Sushant Singh Rajput.

Slated to release on September 30, ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, will tell the unheard and unknown facts about the sportsman’s life.

The trailer of the film has been unveiled in Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Hindi a few days back. The response to the trailer has been phenomenal and not just fans of Dhoni, moviegoers are eagerly looking forward to this film.

With just about a few days for the film to hit the silverscreen, the cast and the crew must be excited and thrilled and so are fans of Mahi aka Dhoni. Even the man himself would be awaiting the film’s release to see his own life being narrated on celluloid.

And as we begin the countdown to the film’s release, let us take a look at some of the reasons to watch the movie.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

The man best known for remaining as cool as a cucumber even during an edge-of-the-seat, nail-biting match, MS Dhoni sure is an inspiration and an institution in himself. The way he clinched matches by hitting the winning shots is truly admirable. And yet after winning tough matches, the expression on Dhoni’s face would be extremely normal. His contribution to the game of cricket and the sport in India is matchless. And needless to say, his helicopter shot is worth a wolf-whistle.

MS comes across as a man of few words and great principles. And hence it would be interesting to see his untold story unfold on the silverscreen. This will help us get more familiar with him.

Sushant Singh Rajput

Popular as Manav of Zee TV’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’, SSR went on to become a film personality after debuting in Bollywood with Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Kai Po Che!’, a film based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’. The young and talented man, bagged a contract with Hindi Cinema’s most reputed banner- Yash Raj Films – and was taken on board a romantic tale titled ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’. He also essayed iconic detective Byomkeysh Bakshi in a murder mystery produced by YRF. He is presently busy with Homi Adajania’s ‘Raabta’ and has a few big banner films in the pipeline. His guest appearance in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘PK’ starring Aamir Khan was well appreciated. The handsome hunk is certainly in the industry to play a very long and impressive innings a la Mahi.

Star Cast

‘M.S. Dhoni : The Untold Story’ has a striking star cast. Both veterans and newcomers are a part of the film and will essay pivotal characters that influenced Dhoni’s journey so far. Anupam Kher and Rajesh Sharma add weight to the star cast with their experience and impeccable acting prowess while Disha Patani an Kiara Advani add freshness to team ‘M.S. Dhoni : The Untold Story’. Besides, them, ‘Tere Naam’ actress Bhumika Chawla will be seen making a comeback with this film.

Sports based Bollywood film

Hindi cinema has seen very few films based on sports and sportsmen. ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Chak De India’ starring Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan respectively had wowed audiences. But soon there was a vacuum until ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ hit the silverscreen followed by ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Azhar’ and ‘Sultan’. Sohail Khan’s ‘Freaky Ali’ is film based on golf. And it would be interesting to see what the film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui has in store for us. This December, we have ‘Dangal’ starring Aamir Khan essaying the role of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, scheduled for release. But now it is time to focus on MS Dhoni’s untold story.

Hindi cinema has seen very few films based on sports. And now that producers have picked up the idea of making films based on sports, audiences will get to see different kind of cinema which will be refreshing.

Neeraj Pandey

‘M.S.Dhoni – The Untold Story’ comes from a filmmaker whose body of work so far has impressed both the critics and audiences alike. The writer-director has films like ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Special 26’ and ‘Baby’ to his credit. He has teamed up with Akshay Kumar for a project titled ‘Crack’ now. He is also a part of Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ as a producer. So, it is apparent that Neeraj is very thoughtful when it comes to his films’ subject. And hence, the film based on Dhoni could prove to be one of his best works so far.

All in all, ‘M.S. Dhoni : The Untold Story’ will help us in knowing Mahi better. It will certainly be a treat for cricket enthusiasts and movie buffs. And we are sure, not just fans of Dhoni, even the cool captain himself will be eager to watch the film. Moreover, with his darling daughter Ziva around, the film will be an absolute family delight. Sakshi Dhoni would certainly agree with us!

Round up

The film does not share its release date with any other movie and hence, ‘M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story’ has ample time over the weekend to pull audiences towards the theatres and multiplexes. Besides Hindi, the flick is releasing in three Indian languages – Marathi, Tamil and Telugu – to connect with the regional audiences.

Dhoni is a national icon and hence a film based on his journey may prove to be a huge hit.

And for Sushant Singh Rajput, ‘M.S. Dhoni : The Untold Story’ is nothing less a dream come true. He has a couple of more biopics in his kitty, reports suggest. But it is time to shout ‘Dhoni...Dhoni’ aloud. So are you ready to see SSR executing Dhoni’s masterstroke on celluloid? We are sure you are as excited and thrilled as yet. Just a few more days to go! Let’s begin the countdown now.
