Review: Deshmukhs’ enthrall you in ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’ Zeenews Bureau

Whoever said that real life couples do not have a successful reel outing should watch ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’. The film’s plot is generic, lacks logic, and is very predictable. But newly-weds Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza make the film an enjoyable ride.

The story is of a certain Mr Bhatti (Tinu Anand) who is all set to get his daughter Mini (Genelia) married off to a rich brat. Reluctant to get married to a person who she barely knows and who lacks any sort of ambitions, Mini plans to escape and plots her own kidnapping and Viren (Riteish), who works for Bhatti, gets entangled unknowingly in the entire case.

The two on the run land up at Viren’s ancestral home where Mini meets Viren’s parents and some pehalwaans. City bred girl adapts to village life, teaches aerobics to the body builders and ends up falling in love with the simple, innocent Viren.

The story has traces of ‘Bunty and Babli’ and ‘Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahi’. The humour lacks logic just like ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani’ but somehow it is thoroughly enjoyable.

The narrative dips in the middle but an exciting climax and the lovely lead pair makes the film bearable.

For all the fans of Riteish and Genelia who have been eagerly waiting for them to do a film post ‘Masti’ this isn’t their best outing. But the two manage to sail through a weak script. The chemistry is obvious and their innocent love makes one smile. The film primarily works for the husband wife duo. Their comic timing is perfect and manages to infuse humour in the most illogical scenes and situations.

Watch it for a light-hearted comedy. Watch it for Mr and Mrs Deshmukh. Let’s hope that they don’t wait for another seven years to do another film together.

Ratings: Three cheers for this one!
