MJ tribute gig was badly organised, admits mayor of Vienna

The mayor of Vienna Michael Haupl has said that the Michael Jackson tribute concert that was supposed to take place in the city but got cancelled was badly organised.

London: The mayor of Vienna Michael Haupl has said that the Michael Jackson tribute concert that was supposed to take place in the city but got cancelled was badly organized. He expressed regret in front of the city`s council and said that the show would have been "very interesting... had it been properly prepared and organised but it was not".
Organizers were forced to cancel the planned 26 September concert, as they could not book major stars to perform in the event, reports BBC News. However, a replacement show has been planned for June next year, in London. Before the show got cancelled, Vienna authorities had agreed to subsidise the tribute at Schönbrunn Palace and give organisers 600,000 euros following city experts’ opinion that the event``s advertising value would be around 35m euros. However, the funding was pulled on 11 September when the concert`s organisers failed to present the "top stars" to perform at the event. The mayor had said then: "The advertising value is unlikely to be as high as we had initially expected it to be. We will call off all talks with the organisers." ANI
