London: Grammy-winning singer Sam Smith and diver Tom Daley are among those nominated at this year's British LGBT Awards.

Katie Price, Mel C and Olly Murs have been recognised as straight allies in various categories ahead of the ceremony, which takes place at London's Landmark Hotel on April 24.

Daley has been nominated for two prizes, including Sports Personality of the Year and the prestigious Global Gay Icon Award. The Icon Award will also be contested by Kylie Minogue, Hillary Clinton and Joan Collins.

Paul O'Grady, Graham Norton, Stephen Fry, Nick Grimshaw and Clare Balding have been shortlisted for Broadcaster of the Year, while Smith, Murs, Lady Gaga and Boy George are up for Music Icon.

Meanwhile, Danny Dyer, Lorraine Kelly, Mel C, Russell Brand, Nigella Lawson and Price have been nominated for the Straight Ally of the Year prize, which recognises straight stars who have been supportive of the LGBT community.

'Orange Is the New Black' actress Laverne Cox, Coronation Street's Antony Cotton, Dustin Lance Black and TV star Mary Portas are also up for prizes.

The British LGBT Awards - which will be hosted by former Coronation Street star Charlie Condou and Holby City's Sophie Ward - are voted for by the public.
