New Delhi: Bollywood composer Bappi Lahiri will be judging the second season of a disc-jockey (DJ) hunt ‘MirchiMix’ by a radio station, and says he is looking forward to bring the disco genre back with a bang.
The hunt is bieng organised by Radio Mirchi.
"It`s a fantastic platform for budding DJs in India to showcase their talent. I can`t wait to meet and perform with the raw young talent of our country," Lahiri, known for numbers like "I am a disco dancer", ‘Pag ghungroo’ and ‘Ooh la la!’, said in a statement.
"My experience of 40 years, packed with Radio Mirchi`s exuberance and some magic from India`s young DJs is going to bring disco back. I have been the mentor of disco in India and it gives me a great sense of pride to pay tribute to the genre," he added.
Through the contest, the contenders get a chance to mould the Lahiri`s popular, foot-tapping creations in their own way and share them with the judges.
They can download popular Lahiri songs from www.mirchimix.in, remix it and upload their entries on the website. The entries can be sent by Sep 25, which will be followed by initial short listing, whereby three contestants will be chosen for each city finale by Lahiri and DJ Akhil Talreja.
The city finales will be held in Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Kolkata, where one winner will be chosen from the respective cities.
The 10 finalists will compete and show off their skills at the grand finale, to be held in Kolkata.
The winner will get a cash prize and a chance to perform live with Lahiri.
