An actor who gets song ideas from TV role

Miami: Aaron Diaz, who plays Mariano Sanchez, the doctor who is hopelessly in love with a beautiful and ambitious woman on the Univision soap opera "Teresa", finds in his character the inspiration to write songs.

"I had scarcely read the script of the soap opera when I began to get various ideas for songs and began to compose," the 29-year-old native of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, told EFE. "One of the songs - `No puedo dejar de amarte` - is the product of what my character feels for Teresa," Diaz said. "I can say that I composed my new album between my dressing room and the show`s set." Currently, Diaz is touring Mexico and South America to promote his self-titled second album. The first album, which he recorded in 2009 in honour of his just-dead grandmother, never went on sale. Now, two years later, the artist is ready to go on stage to perform for his fans. "I think that now`s the time, because I want to bring these songs to my fans, who for the past two years have been asking me for a record. They are the most important thing for me; everything I do, I do for them," he said. Diaz began to become known in 2002 when he played the role of Kike in "Clase 406", a soap opera that broke records by remaining on the air for 19 consecutive months. He followed that success with roles on "Corazones al limite" and "Barrera de amor". In 2009, Diaz married actress Kate Del Castillo, who brought to life the character of Teresa Mendoza on "La Reina del Sur", the gritty television soap based on Spanish writer Arturo Perez-Reverte`s novel about a woman trapped in the world of drug trafficking.
