Coldplay confirmed for Big Weekend 2014 in Glasgow

London: British rock band Coldplay have been confirmed as the first headliner for this year`s Radio 1 Big Weekend. The band will top the bill on May 24 at the annual music event, which takes place at Glasgow Green, reportedly.

The group stopped by the Radio 1 Live Lounge to make the announcement, as well as perform their current single `Magic` and new track `Oceans`. "We are absolutely thrilled to have been asked to play Radio 1`s Big Weekend in Glasgow this year," said drummer Will Champion. "Playing in Glasgow is always so much fun and Radio 1 have always been wonderful to us so it couldn`t really be any better!" Coldplay`s performance at Radio 1`s Big Weekend will follow the release of their new album Ghost Stories on May 19.
