London: Music legend Sly Stone, the famous frontman of Sly and the Family Stone who once owned multiple mansions, is now homeless and is reportedly living in a camper van parked on a Los Angeles street.
Sly, real name Sylvester Stewart, made millions during the 60s and 70s. But the frontman’s personal problems, excessive substance abuse and financial mismanagement have pushed him onto the streets. Stone, 68, who once owned a four-bedroom Tudor-style mansion in Beverly Hills when the band enjoyed worldwide success now lives in a van which he parks it at the side of road in a rough neighbourhood of Los Angeles. A local retired couple makes sure he eats at least once a day and invites him into their house for a shower. The 68-year old musician, however, says he doesn’t want to return to a fixed home. “I like my small camper. I don’t want to return to a fixed home. I cannot stand being in one place,” the Sun quoted him as saying. ANI
