Los Angeles: Rapper Kanye West has invited the wrath of his fans again with his latest twitter rant against pop star Britney Spears.
Spears` single `Hold It Against Me` reached the top on the charts, pushing West`s song `H.A.M (featuring Jay-Z)" to No 2 and the rapper is not very happy about it.
The 33-year-old, known for his embarrassing public outbursts, took to his twitter to rant about his song being the best, Us magazine reported.
"Yo Britney, I`m really happy for you and I`mma let you be #1, but me and Jay-Z`s single is one of the best songs of all time! LOL (sic)," he wrote.
Though West later removed the tweet, that didn`t stop Spears` manager Adam Leber from issuing a response on the singer`s behalf.
"Thanks for `letting` us be #1. Much appreciated," Leber said.
West later apologised, telling his followers, "On a serious note I`m truly happy for Avril Lavigne and Britney Spears. No hate in 2011...I thought LOL signified a joke."
This isn`t the first time that West has locked horns with fellow celebrities. In 2009, West jumped onstage with Taylor Swift while she was accepting her award for the Best Female Video. West was unhappy that the award did not go to Beyonce. He later apologised for his boorish act but his image suffered a major blow.
He had had a similar meltdown during the 2007 MTV awards when Spears replaced him as the show`s opening performer.
