Mumbai: Pakistani actress Veena Malik, who shot to fame with reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ and then to infamy by posing nude for a magazine cover, has now shown her discomfort in stripping for a film. The actress, who is up to her eyeballs in controversy, has taken it a notch further by filming some bold scenes for Rajeev Ruia’s ‘Zindagi 50:50’.
According to what we’ve heard, Veena’s role in the movie is that of a sex worker, and she has apparently gone nude for some scenes in the film. Speaking to a leading daily, Veena said, “When Rajeev approached me with the role, he wasn`t very confident about whether I would be able to pull it off. I prefer playing a bad girl rather than a cute, bubbly one. My ideal role has to be negative, strong and performance-driven.”
However, as far as shedding her clothes is concerned, Veena has opposed vehemently. Says the actress, “I`m not stripping for any film. I have never gone nude nor does the film have such scenes. There are a few bold scenes, but they are aesthetically shot.”
The reality star was recently seen aping Angelina Jolie’s now-famous pose on the Oscars stage. But she denies doing it deliberately. She calls the entire act impromptu and says that that was the only way she could have posed.
In the past the actress has been seen posing nude for a magazine cover with an ISI tattoo on her arm. The feat had grabbed the attention of many extremist groups and fatwas had been issued against her.
Rajeev Ruia’s ‘Zindagi 50:50’ looks like one film that we need to wait for. Apart from the ‘aesthetically shot’ bold scenes, Veena will be seen gyrating to the tunes of an item number with actress Riya Sen, who had been dating Ashmit Patel, apparently who happens to be Veena’s latest beau.
Seems like the film has a lot to offer its viewers. And we sincerely hope that Malik steers clear of all controversies this time around!
