Chennai: Lakshmy Ramakrishnan, director of Tamil drama ‘Aarohanam’, which will release Oct 26 after months of delay, feels the film will be an acid test and her biggest reward will be the audience`s response.
"I`ve struggled through every stage in the making of this film. The release is equivalent to a conclusive test of effort I`ve poured into this project. My biggest reward at the end of the day will be the response from the audience. If they`re happy with my film, then I`ll be happier," Lakshmy told reporters.
‘Aarohanam’ is based on a series of events that take place on a single day. It narrates the story of a 17-year-old boy and his sister`s search for their missing mother.
The film, which is Lakshmy`s directorial debut, stars Jayaprakash, Viji Chandrasekhar, Kavithalaya Krishnan, Uma Padmanabhan, Rajee Vijayasarathy and Sampath Raj.
Made on a budget of Rs.33.5 lakh, the film is 90 minutes long and Lakshmy says the shorter running time has worked in her favour.
"Smaller films with low budget are encouraged these days. Moreover, due to frequent and long power cuts in Tamil Nadu, theatre owners are happy to welcome short films. My film is 90 minutes long and this may also pave way to more number of shows in a theatre following the audience` response," she said.
Lakshmy wants to explore different digital platforms and take her film to other states as well.
"I`ve spoken about my film to a leading producer in Andhra Pradesh, who has expressed his interest to see the film in a private screening and decide accordingly. I`m also reaching out to different digital content providers to see how else I could possibly present the film on digital space", she further added.
