14 films for IFFK competition section

A total of 14 films have been selected for the prestigious competition section of the 18th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) to be held here from December 6 to 13.

Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 14 films have been selected for the prestigious competition section of the 18th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) to be held here from December 6 to 13.
The competition section includes films from Asia, Africa and Latin American countries. "Capturing Dad` (Japan), `Arbani` (Israel), `Inertia` and `Club Sandwich` (Mexico), `Errata` (Argentina), `Jonatha`s Forest` (Brazil), `Parviz` and `Taj Mahal` (Iran), `The Battle of Tabato` (Portugal) and `Constructors` (Kazhakstan) are the 10 foreign entries in the section. Four Indian films, including two from Malayalam have also been chosen for the section. `Mekhe Dhaka Tara` (Bengali/ Kamaleswar Mukherjee), `Astu` (Marathi/Sumitra Bhave) and Malayalam films `101 Chodyangal` (Siddharth Siva) and `Kaliyachan` (Farook Abdul) are the Indian entries in the section. In the `Indian Cinema Now` category, `Liar`s Dice` (Geethu Mohandas), `Accident` (Nandita Roy), `Crossing Bridges` (Sange Dorjee Thongdok), `Lucia` (Pawan Kumar), `The Dew Drop` (Abhinav Shiv Tiwari), `Soodhu Kavum` (Nalan Kumarasamy) and `The Coffin Maker` (Veena Bakshi) have been included. Seven Malayalam films have been chosen for the `Malayalam Cinema Today` section including `Celluloid` by Kamal and `Annayum Resulum` by Rajeev Ravi, a release from the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, the organisers of IFFK, said here.
