Mumbai: Tamil actor Vikram, who has made his B-town entry with `Raavan` followed by `David`, says he is in no hurry to do Hindi films and has not taken these Bollywood projects for money.
Down South Vikram has acted primarily in Tamil films and then in Telugu and Malayalam. His memorable performances include `Sethu`, `Saamy`, `Anniyan`, and `Kanthaswamy` among others.
"I already have a career there. It is just that an offer came for Hindi films, I found it interesting and hence took it up. It is not that I am doing films here (Bollywood) for money or my passion towards acting. Rather I am getting paid same here," Vikram told reporters.
"I wanted to do something different here (Bollywood) and both `Raavan` and `David` gave me that opportunity. It is true that the reach of Hindi film industry is wider, it reaches out globally. But that is not the reason for me to do a film here," he said.
Vikram made his Bollywood debut with Mani Ratnam`s `Raavan` in 2010 and his second film released last week.
"I am not in a hurry to do Hindi films. I was waiting for an interesting and challenging roles to come my way. I am happy I got to do both the films ? `Raavan` and `David`. Before signing a film I look for a good script and good role," he said.
"People have been appreciating my performance in my latest film `David` and it feels good to receive a positive response," he added.
Ask him when do we get to see him next in a Hindi film, Vikram says, "It can take six months or ten years. It all depends on what I am offered. I can`t just do the usual thing here."
Considering he comes from South, Vikram`s takes lessons in Hindi while doing a film here.
Also, the 46-year-old has taken long to enter Hindi films.
"That is because my work in the South has been time consuming. All my Tamil films take one to two years. I like to take my time on my projects. I did not want to enter Hindi film industry till I was ready," he said.
Vikram`s Tamil films including ? `Sethu` was remade here as `Tere Naam` with Salman Khan in the lead and now his another hit film `Saamy` is being made here in Hindi as `Policegiri` with Sanjay Dutt and Prachi Desai.
"I am happy that these films are getting remade here. It is a good thing," he said.
