New Delhi: Ace designer Neeta Lulla has worked on the look of each character, including the lead role essayed by legendary actor Rajinikanth, in period drama ‘Kochadaiiyaan - The Legend’.
The film`s director Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin has only words of praise for the National award-winning designer.
"Neeta has done an outstanding job on the costumes for `Kochadaiiyaan`. The details in the armour and the weaponised look of the costumes really creates an impact. The photorealistic performance capture technology used in the film is extremely advanced and the work done on the costumes really shines through," Soundarya said in a statement.
The project required a lot of research from Lulla`s side. Around 150 costumes per character were designed on paper, and out of those, 20 to 25 costumes were selected and detailed.
The designer also created a range of 20 to 30 looks especially for the armour suit as well as the supporting cast of ‘Kochadaiiyaan’. She says it was "totally wonderful" to associate with the project.
"Being a part of `Kochadaiiyaan` is definitely a milestone in my career. I think the project is larger than life for two aspects - one being Rajini sir and the other being that it is a photo realistic motion capture film format, that is a first-of-its-kind," Lulla said in a statement.
She has revealed that a lot of importance was given to the sketches.
"We created the looks not in fabric form but a detailed overview in sketch form. My creative team and I worked on for almost eight months on the various characterisations of Rajini sir and the other supporting cast. It was a different kind of design experience altogether," she added.
‘Kochadaiiyaan’ features Rajinikanth, R. Sarath Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, Shobana and Aadi Pinisetty. It will release in October.
