Brand shuns Katy Perry’s $44m fortune in ‘amicable’ divorce

Brand has declined to take any share from his ex-wife Katy Perry’s 44-million-dollar fortune in their ‘amicable’ divorce.

Washington: Russell Brand has declined to take any share from his ex-wife Katy Perry’s 44-million-dollar fortune in their ‘amicable’ divorce.
Lawyers for the now estranged couple finalised the divorce papers on Tuesday, and the comedian does not want a cent from the popstar.
The two married in October 2010 and did not sign a pre-nup, meaning everything they earned during their 14-month marriage is combined and halved. According to Forbes magazine, the ‘Firework’ hitmaker earned a whopping 44 million dollars between May 2010 and May 2011, and Brand is legally entitled to 20 million dollars of it. But Brand has reportedly done the honourable thing for his higher-earning ex-wife and won’t touch a dime. “This divorce is as amicable as it gets, and Russell was a mensch (Yiddish for a good person),” a source told TMZ.com.
