London: Singer Duffy has broken up with her rugby star lover Mike Phillips after an 18-month-relationship.

There were predictions that the pair would soon tie the knot but uncertainty over Wales scrumhalf Phillips’s career was blamed for putting a strain on their relationship. While the ‘Mercy’ singer, 26, was promoting her second album in London, rumour ensued that the 28-year-old ‘Ospreys’ hero was looking to play club rugby in France next season. “They have officially ended. It’s sad but things had been deteriorating for quite a few months,” The Mirror quoted a source, close to the Welsh couple, as saying. “Their arguments increased as the uncertainty about Mike’s career surfaced,” the source added.
