New York: American TV and film actress Zsa Zsa Gabor celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary with ninth husband Frederic von Anhalt with a star-packed party.
The ailing actress wore a pink dress, make up and a tiara, and enjoyed caviar, champagne and a bedside visit from Phyllis Diller, as she watched her 100 guests on a large screen in her bedroom. “Some people are mad because I’m throwing a party and my wife is sick in bed. But the doctor was there the whole day and said it was the best medication we can give her,” the New York Daily News quoted von Anhalt as saying. “She was smiling the whole day. The party was her idea. She wanted it so badly. “This was a party for me and my wife and nobody else. She’s 94 years old. If we’re not going to do it now, then when? When she’s 100?” he stated. The former Hungarian beauty queen has been in and out of the hospital over the last year after falling and breaking her hip. She had a leg amputated in January. Around 20 guests were allowed to visit her room, including Diller and Quincy Jones, whereas her own daughter Francesca Hilton was not invited as she wanted an independent evaluation of her mother’s health. “If you want to be invited, you have to be friendly. I only want happy people in the house. I want to enjoy life and have fun in old age,” von Anhalt said. “If my wife was in pain and screamed, I wouldn’t throw a party. But she smiles. She had music. She had a great time,” he added. ANI
