Abhinav Bindra creates awareness on cancer

Chandigarh: Olympian gold medallist shooter Abhinav Bindra today flagged off a cancer awareness walkathon

in the city to educate people about the disease. "I am working on personal basis to generate awareness among people about cancer," Bindra told reporters while flagging off the walkathon, organised by `Cancer Sahayta Sahyog`. "I have been associated with them (Cancer Sahayta Sahyog) as awareness on the issue of cancer is important," he said adding that "awareness is the key element towards fighting the disease." On the preparations by the government and the organising committee for the upcoming Commonwealth games, Bindra said "everything is going good. Preparations are going well and I hope it will be good games." "I am sure by October next everything will be in place for the games," he said. Meanwhile, several people from different walks of life walked during the walkathon. Jean Rodrigues, wife of Punjab Governor S F Rodrigues, led the entire team walking for the cause of creating awareness on cancer. PTI
