London: Britain`s Charlotte Dujardin danced to victory in the individual dressage Thursday, beating Dutch rider Adelinde Cornelissen by a nose with an elegant performance here at the Olympic Games.
Riding last to an eclectic mix of music that encompassed tunes from "Live and Let Die" to "Land of Hope and Glory", Dujardin scored 90.089 percent on her horse Valegro, almost two percent ahead of Cornelissen on Parzival. Just last month, Dujardin smashed the British record with the first performance of over 90 percent in international competition by a British rider. Bronze went to Britain`s former national record holder Laura Berchtolsheimer, who had been one of Dujardin`s teammates as Britain took gold in the team event Tuesday. Bercholsheimer scored 84.339 percent on Mistral Hojris, just 0.036 percent ahead of Germany`s Helen Langehanenberg in fourth. Britain`s Carl Hester was the highest-ranked male rider in fifth. IANS
