Guwahati: The opposition BJP on Thursday said
it would go to polls on development plank and release its
election manifesto on March 21.
The party`s election in-charge Vijay Goel said in Guwahati,
"Our party will seek the mandate of the people
promising all round development. If voted to power, we will
take steps to supply rice at the rate of Rs three per kg to
people below poverty line", he told reporters.
BJP has put up candidates in 62 constituencies going
to the hustings in the first phase on April four and
overwhelming public response has given rise to the expectation
that the party will win, he said.
"The overwhelming response of the people during filing
of nomination of prominent BJP candidates including state unit
president Ranjit Dutta have shown that the people are going to
vote out the corrupt Congress out of power", Goel said.
Prominent party leaders like president Nitin Gadkari,
L K Advani and Sushma Swaraj are slated to campaign for
candidates in the first phase, Geol said.
The second phase of polling will be held on April 11.
