Hazare`s fast-unto-death for a stronger anti-corruption law as
"hypocritical", Union minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday alleged
that states like Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Madhya
Pradesh ruled by the party were immersed in corruption.
"This is simply hypocrisy (BJP extending support to
Hazare in his anti-corruption campaign)," Singh, a senior
Congress leader from Himachal Pradesh and five times chief
minister of the state, told agency.
"The saffron party which is projecting itself as a
crusader against corruption should first explain why there is
so much corruption in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Madhya
Pradesh where it is in power," the Union minister for Micro,
Small and Medium Enterprises, said.
Singling out HP Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Singh,
locked in political fight with Dhumal for long, said he has
put the state on "sale" to builders and "doubtful" private
"Dhumal is offering land at low prices by relaxing
Section 118 of the HP Land Act to builders and private
universities of doubtful credentials," Singh alleged.
He referred to land offered to noted builders like DLF
to build luxury villas in Shimla and famous tourist spot of
Kasauli to buttress his charge.
Besides, the BJP government has offered concessional land
to many private universities whose credentials are doubtful,
Making a scathing attack on the BJP government in HP,
which is now in the fourth year of its present term, Singh,
the six times MP and five times MLA from the state, said, "He
will give only two marks on a scale of 10 to the Dhumal
ministry for its performance in the present term."

Dhumal, he said, "This is because Dhumal has become CM of the
state for a second time which is the only achievement he can
