Chetan, Arvind reach quarterfinals of Macau Open

Seventh seed Chetan beat Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark 21-15, 21-15 in 30 minutes, while 10th seed Arvind went past another Dane, eight seeded Jan O Jorgensen, 21-13, 22-20 in a 33-minute pre-quarterfinal clash.Chetan will next face winner of the third round match between Huan Gao and world number one Lee Chong Wei, while Arvind will lock horns with fourth seed Malaysian Choong Hann Wong, who spanked Chinese Taipei`s Hsuan Yi Hsueh 21-13, 21-9. Chetan had an easy outing and he opened up a 3-0 lead in the first game. But Vittinghus clawed his way back to draw parity at 8-8 and then 12-12 before the Indian broke loose to pocket the game. Chetan went for the kill right for the start of the second game and didn`t give his rival any chance to come back into the match. Arvind, however, had to break sweat to get past his Danish rival. The world number 24 Indian made a smart recovery after being 8-9 behind and reeled off four straight points to grab the lead at 12-9 before winning the first game. The second game was a see-saw battle as both of them fought tooth and nail and after moving together from 6-6 to 20-20, it was the Indian who kept the nerves to have the last laugh. Bureau Report
