Panaji: After roping in Roberto Silva from Dempo SC, Churchill Brothers have now managed to convince HAL`s midfielder Xavier Vijay Kumar to join them for the upcoming season.
Following his exceptional performance against Dempo on the final match of the I-League in which he scored two classic goals, Churchill Brothers patron, Churchill Alemao, gave him a good offer to join the team. Xavier, who has a permanent job at HAL and played for them for the last 13 years, could not resist the tempting offer, and will now don Churchill colours in the next season.
"The last match was a dream come true for us. I scored twice and beating Dempo in Goa will always be special," stated Xavier who signed a two-year deal with the Goan club."It’s not the first time I have had offers but it was the job security which made me stay at HAL for so long," said Xavier.
