Curtains on campaigns of Gajjar and Vishnu at ITF events

Seeded fifth in the singles, Gajjar put up a good fight before losing 4-6, 5-7 to second seed and local favourite Karim Maamoun in the quarter-finals of the hard court event. In the doubles event also, Gajjar and his Czech partner Roman Vogeli, seeded third fought hard but lost 7-5, 1-6, 6-10 to the second seeded local pair of Maamoun and Sherif Sabry.Like Gajjar, Vishnu Vardhan’s campaign in the USD 15,000 ITF Futures event in Australia ended with double defeat. As eighth seed in singles, Vishnu lost 6-7(4), 2-6 to Australia’s Matthew Ebden in the quarter-finals. In doubles, Vishnu and his Kiwi partner Marcus Daniell, seeded second, went down fighting 3-6, 7-6(2), 10-12 to third seeded Australians Ebden and Samuel Groth. PTI
